Greenhouse gas emission control and energy saving system

After introducing the greenhouse gas emission control system and obtaining the electricity saving certificate (ISO 50001), Lotte corporation became the first company in South Korean interior decoration industry to implement these standards in its production. The efforts to ensure sustainable production were awarded by the Presidential award for saving energy in 2012. Moreover, Samsung SDI Lotte company takes an active part in carbon detection projects (CDP) and these indices (CDLI) make it the market leader in the finishing materials industry.

Environmental protection

All Lotte products have the internationally-recognised ISO 14001 certification on environmental management systems and OHSAS 18001 certification to ensure staff safety and health. The company’s use of legal pollutants does not exceed 30% thus contributing to environmental protection. It saves water by using its own water treatment facilities and hiring third party water treatment services. To ensure production safety and the ability to immediately eliminate the risk of accidents, the company installed water flow blocking and monitoring systems, including CCTV video surveillance control, and also installed wastewater discharge points into general sewers. All production waste is properly sorted, stored and disposed of according to the standards, established in the Law on Waste Disposal.
For these reasons, the Ministry of the Environment has included Lotte into the list of ‘green’ companies of South Korea.

Compliance with international standards for chemical status

Lotte complies with all environmentally-friendly production requirements, including the European REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals) regulations. This is ensured by a special ERP system, used to manage information on all chemical substances used in the manufacturing process and their suppliers.

Staron® sustainability certificate

The sustainable recycled Staron® acrylic stone series has a special SCS recycled content certification. This technology significantly reduces emissions and energy consumption during production. Moreover, the entire Staron® acrylic stone series, including the recycled series, can be used indoors and holds GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Children & Schools certificates to ensure lowest emissions possible. This enables to use acrylic stone for home interiors.
